Accupuncture and Stuff

I'll start with the fact that I'm going to start reading LJ more often. I'm tired of missing stuff, and finding out about events after the fact. What this means is more Stalking... muhahaha... you have been all warned... unless of course YOU weren't reading LJ this week, at which point you will have missed it.

So I have started going to a Acupuncturist. Dr. Tan. My friend Marie recommended him, and figured since nothing else has put this minor lingering muscle tightness in my right back rest... I figured I'd try it out.

Surprisingly, I was not phased at all about the doc poking me with a handful of needles. I honestly say it didn't hurt at all, and in about 10 minutes I was asleep in the chair. I went again today, and was disappointed by having to wait 30+ minutes for my appt... apparently good with needles, does not mean good with BEING ON TIME.

So I started the day at work at noon, but with no pain! So I'm going to try this a couple more times to see if it can do something permanent. I've made 2 distinct progresses with my back over the past 12 months, so 1 more would put me in the clear. :)

Are you the 1 person that read this far... wow.

Wow! That's awesome news. I think I need to give accupuncture a try. I've been seeing a chiropractor every month and I'm still having pain.

When I find out if it helps for good, and not temporarily, I'll try to post something... we will see how long my posting spurt lasts.

if i had the cash i would totally go for regular acupuncture for my back and bum knee and shoulder.

unless your chiro is really good and unique he/she is just popping the same bones back in to place every time. it's treating the symptom, not the cause. it's much better to actually work on the musculature around your bones and do some physiotherapy to get your bones to align correctly on their own.

he has a disintegrating and or herniating disc in his back... popping them isn't going to do anything.

at this point it's pain management (i.e. the symptoms)

i was referring to Josie and chiro in general . . . though chiros pretty much just pop things back into place.

fine, be a ho!

For me, the bad pain is really gone from my every day life. Its really the soreness and occasional sharp pain that gets me. Yoga of course has been the key thing helping me.

I hate Chiropractors, I think they are the reason I'm in this spot... but i digress. :)

Hey good to see you around!! I went to acupunture for about a year and made huge strides with pain! I hope it works as well or better for you!

[identity profile] sdtj.livejournal.com 2008-01-31 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Not sure I can do a year... let alone a month, but will try to keep with it. I apparently need to start eating more Ginger, to help with blood circulation.

BTW Yoga has been the best thing for my back. I am still using the same mat that I got from Hadessa, that I think she got from you. :-D I'm about to order a new one online. 2 YEARS!

[identity profile] cerisefemme.livejournal.com 2008-01-31 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I went for a year because I had so much trauma from an accident. Ended up selling a kidney to pay for it (just kidding).

I am so glad the mat has had such a wonderful life! I miss yoga alot, but finding time to go is always the struggle!

Yeah, i luckly (rolls eyes) have physical reminders if I do not go. And the fact that the place I go is on my way home, makes it easy. Sadly that plays a big reason why I go... its easy to get to. But cuts into your night, its a 2+ hr commitment several times a week.

[identity profile] cr1stina.livejournal.com 2008-01-31 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I read it and acupuncture scares me too much to try it still. I have to have my hand held when giving blood at the doctors and I associate the two.

Next week will be fun!

[identity profile] sdtj.livejournal.com 2008-01-31 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Acupuncture is nothing like giving blood. I swear they use a straw when poking my arm for giving blood (Which I'm doing next week).

I'm looking forward to seeing Stardust... I never saw it in the Theater, but read the book while in Greece. YEAH!
